Since 2003 Education Through Nature has presented dynamic and engaging life

science programs to more than 250,000 students across Southern California. 

Sean Roach, a passionate educator and founder of Education Through Nature, has connected with audiences ranging from preschoolers to adults. Some of his accomplishments include providing educational enrichment on behalf of First Lady Michelle Obama, being featured on numerous televised programs, and working alongside American Humane as an animal handler specializing in insects, spiders, and other arthropods. 

 

Before developing Education Through Nature Sean worked as Kidspace Children’s Museum's Lead Outreach Education Specialist and Animal Keeper. Sean has completed animal behavior coursework through UCLA, conducted research in partnership with the Los Angeles Zoo, and is ECE trained.

In 2015 Roach co-wrote Backyard Bugs with Ilse Ortabasi Ph.D.

which debuted at the D.C. Environmental Films Festival. Partnering with CCC Streaming Services it was used to create a series of short educational videos available by subscription to schools throughout North America. Backyard Bugs is now available for rent on Amazon Prime and can be streamed for on Tubi.
